Care rooted in relationships, built for modern life
Bloom Women’s Health was founded on a simple belief: women deserve a medical home where they’re known by name, heard without interruption, and cared for through every season of life.
Whole-person women's health, without the rush
Bloom Women’s Health opened its doors in Austin in 2004 with one exam room and a promise: every patient would get the time and attention they deserved. Two decades later, that promise hasn’t changed, even as our team and services have grown.
We combine the expertise of board-certified physicians and a certified nurse midwife with a genuinely warm, unhurried approach to care. We see you as a whole person — not a chart number — and we build long-term relationships that let us catch what matters, early.
Four commitments we make to every patient
Listen First
Every appointment begins with your story, your concerns, and your goals — not a rushed checklist.
Evidence-Based
Our recommendations follow current ACOG guidelines and the latest peer-reviewed research.
Inclusive Care
We welcome patients of every background, identity, orientation, and family structure.
Continuity of Care
You’ll build a real relationship with your provider across years, not just visits.
The people behind your care
Our providers bring decades of combined experience in obstetrics, gynecology, maternal-fetal medicine, and midwifery.
Dr. Amara Whitfield, MD, FACOG
Dr. Whitfield founded Bloom Women’s Health in 2004 after completing her residency in obstetrics and gynecology. She’s board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG). Over the past two decades, she’s delivered thousands of babies and guided countless patients through wellness exams, family planning, and midlife transitions.
Dr. Whitfield’s approach centers on shared decision-making — she believes patients make the best choices for their bodies when they have complete, honest information. Outside the office, she volunteers with a local maternal health nonprofit and enjoys trail running along Lady Bird Lake.
Dr. Sofia Marchetti, MD
Dr. Marchetti joined Bloom in 2016 after completing a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine. She specializes in high-risk and complex pregnancies, including multiples, pre-existing maternal conditions, and pregnancies with fetal anomalies. Her calm, detail-oriented approach has made her a trusted partner for patients navigating the most uncertain moments of pregnancy.
She works closely with our full team and, when needed, with Austin-area maternal-fetal medicine hospitals to ensure seamless, coordinated care. Dr. Marchetti is fluent in Spanish and Italian and is passionate about closing disparities in maternal health outcomes.
Jamie Ostrander, CNM
Jamie brings a midwifery model of care to Bloom — one that emphasizes education, low-intervention birth when appropriate, and partnership throughout pregnancy, labor, and postpartum recovery. She works alongside our physicians to offer patients a flexible, collaborative range of birth experiences.
Jamie is passionate about informed consent and spends extra time in every visit making sure patients understand their options. She also leads Bloom’s monthly free prenatal education class, open to the whole community.
Awards, affiliations & involvement
Our team regularly volunteers with local maternal health initiatives, including free prenatal education nights and a diaper bank drive each spring, because we believe healthy communities start with supported mothers.
